We're glad you're interested in the story behind our webshop! We'd love to tell you about our motivations for starting this online store and our own experiences with kratom.

The start of our online store

As our name suggests, our kratom comes from Thailand, the "homeland" of kratom. As a Dutch-Thai couple, Thailand is our regular holiday destination. We're fans of the kratom tea that's widely available in Thailand. By chance, a friend there put us in touch with a reliable grower who cultivates high-quality kratom. This gave us the opportunity to offer reliable Thai kratom in the Netherlands.

Our introduction to kratom

Kratom use has a long history in Thailand. However, it was restricted in the mid-twentieth century. After decades on the list of prohibited substances, the production, sale, and use of kratom in Thailand was legalized in 2021. Since then, you rarely have to look far to find a vendor. This could be a minimart, a roadside stall, or a bar. Kratom is typically sold in shops and stalls as a cold tea in a (half-)liter bottle. In a bar, it's often served in a glass with ice. Roadside stalls sometimes also offer bags of fresh kratom leaves for chewing. We have a strong preference for kratom tea, both for its effect, its flavor, and the ease with which you can carry a bottle of kratom tea.

Many Thai entrepreneurs have certainly not wasted any time in discussing the possibility of legally cultivating and selling kratom again. Given kratom's status and long history in Thailand, this is understandable. You can read more about this on the "all about kratom" page.

Our own experiences with kratom

After trying kratom ourselves, we completely share the enthusiasm in Thailand for this substance! It's important to note that we use kratom recreationally, while in Thailand, kratom is traditionally used primarily for extra energy and endurance during physical exertion and for medicinal purposes such as relaxation and pain relief.

During our holidays in Thailand, we regularly buy kratom tea when we're out and about. We find its effects ideal for a pleasant evening. It provides an energy boost, improves your mood, and consequently makes you more open and sociable. In the right dosage, these effects are clearly noticeable, but not visible in your eyes or unusual facial and body movements. Moreover, kratom powder is nothing more than the leaves of the Mitragyna Speciosa tree and therefore purely natural. Being a natural product doesn't automatically mean it's healthy or risk-free, of course. But personally, we feel more comfortable gaining energy and an improved mood from consuming ground leaves than from synthetic (and often illegal) substances.

Unknown makes unloved

If you're looking for kratom in Thailand, you'll notice that it's not always available in tourist attractions. This is in contrast to cannabis or magic mushrooms, which were legalized alongside kratom in 2021. Cannabis, in particular, is widely available in Thailand's tourist attractions.

Kratom, on the other hand, is rarely offered in tourist locations. But this doesn't mean it's not available. If you ask at a cafe, there's often a bartender who can help you buy a bottle of kratom. Kratom isn't generally advertised in tourist locations because many tourists from outside Southeast Asia are simply unfamiliar with it. Unfamiliarity breeds contempt. Chances are that as soon as you leave a tourist attraction, you'll quickly see stalls selling kratom along the side of provincial roads, especially in southern Thailand, where kratom is most popular.

Popularity in the Netherlands

In our opinion, it's unfair that kratom is still relatively unknown in the Netherlands, and in virtually all Western countries. It's a versatile substance and, moreover, purely natural. It offers a good natural alternative to synthetic stimulants. High-quality kratom in the correct dosage generally has a miraculous effect that, in our opinion, is unique for a natural product.

Our added value

Kratom has been available in the Netherlands for years at various online stores. So, we don't offer a unique product that was previously unavailable or difficult to obtain. However, we believe we can distinguish ourselves in two ways:

• Excellent value for money: the quality of our kratom is paramount. It's 100% pure and rich in the alkaloids that produce kratom's characteristic effects. Each batch from our Thai producer is tested for purity by an independent laboratory. After searching online, we found that our kratom falls into the lowest price range on the Dutch market. By offering high-quality kratom at competitive prices, we believe we distinguish ourselves in terms of value for money.
• The availability of Thai kratom in the Netherlands appears to be limited: the kratom tree is very sensitive to its location, and this can even cause subtle differences in effects. Our kratom comes exclusively from Thailand. As mentioned earlier, Thailand is often considered the "homeland" of kratom. "Kratom" is a Thai word for good reason. Yet, there seems to be little kratom available that has been grown in Thailand. There's a good explanation for the limited availability of Thai kratom: the ban on its production and sale that was in effect in Thailand until 2021.

Future expansions of our range

We currently only sell one product: red Thai kratom. As a new online store, we first want to determine whether there's sufficient demand for our kratom. If there is, we will expand our selection to include other kratom strains in the future. We will maintain high standards for this as well. Before adding a new kratom strain to our selection, we must be convinced of its purity and potency.
